Symbiosis International (Deemed University) in the year 2015, established Symbiosis Centre for Waste Resource Management (SCWRM) to be a pioneer in building knowledge, disseminating awareness and improving practices in the area of sustainable waste management. The centre promotes inter- and multi-disciplinary approach for basic and need-based, applied research and efforts in bridging the gap between lab and society.

SCWRM works under facilitation and administrative support of Symbiosis Centre for Research and Innovation (SCRI), https://scri.siu.edu.in established in 2009, which is a dedicated department of SIU for promoting and facilitating research among students and faculty. Through its academic and administrative services, SCRI enables researchers to achieve excellence in their work, and eventually, translates SIU’s vision of creation of knowledge for the benefit of the Society into reality.
SCWRM has been Empanelled by State Water and Sanitation Mission (SWSM), Govt. of Maharashtra as Technical agency for implementation of the National 'Gobar-Dhan' scheme in the state at district levels under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin)-II.
